Former Universal Music Latin artist and cultural bridge-builder Ravi.O The Assessini teams up with Jiwon, former K-pop idol of Botopass, to release a new single, “Abyss of Love.” The track marks a unique meeting point between Latin pop and Korean soul, delivering a beautiful ballad that transcends borders and genres.
Ravi.O, a North American singer of Italian and Puerto Rican heritage, rose to prominence through his work with Nicky Jam under the Get Away Music banner. Now a celebrated TV host on SBS MegaTV’s Que Lunes, a variety show that spotlights K-pop idols, rockstars, and more, Ravi.O has set his sights on South Korea’s vibrant music scene, both as a fan and an artist.
It was during one of these interviews that fate intervened. Ravi.O met Jiwon, a former member of Botopass, and proposed a bold idea: one more song, not as an idol, but as herself.
“Abyss of Love is a story of what my heart has gone through this year”, Ravi.O shares. “With a broken heart and no answers, I recorded this with tears running down my face. I truly loved that woman.”
With deep influences from ’90s pop icons like NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Michael Jackson, and Prince, as well as a deep love for K-pop artists like SS501, Dreamcatcher, and Super Junior, Ravi.O channels both his heartbreak and passion into a track that is at once personal and universal.
For Jiwon, “Abyss of Love” represents a milestone in her artistic journey.
“This is the first time I wrote both the lyrics and the melody myself”, she says. “It’s my first real release as me, not as part of a group. I’m so thankful to Ravi for encouraging me to take this step”.
Keep up with Ravi.O
Keep up with Jiwon
