NCT WISH launches "COLOR" the new mini-album

Rising Gen Z boyband NCT WISH has unveiled their third mini album, COLOR, out today via SM Entertainment.

As the youngest and final unit of SM Entertainment's NCT behemoth; NCT WISH brings a hopeful and youthful energy to the game, paired with the experimental sonics and powerful performance style that have become synonymous with NCT since the concept was launched nine years ago.

With their third mini-album, COLOR, NCT WISH shines with greater confidence, ready to cement their presence as a leading force in K-pop. The seven-track release captures their growth and showcases a clearer expression of their vibrant, uplifting music style.

Title track “COLOR” is an electro-pop anthem with powerful synths and jazzy chord progressions, and striking rhythmic shifts in the chorus. The confident lyrics serve as a statement of declaration from NCT WISH letting their light shine and colouring the world with their unique hues.

“COLOR” is co-written and produced by renowned K-pop hitmaker KENZIE and Andrew Choi, the singer-songwriter that voiced Jinu in K-pop Demon Hunters.

“Surf,” the pre-release track, is a refreshing summer dance-pop tune. “Baby Blue” captures NCT WISH's wistful mood on a R&B pop track. Two tracks in particular highlight the group’s Gen Z sensibility. “Cheat Code” is a playful electro-pop track that likens the impatience of wanting to reach a loved one’s heart quickly to the adventurous journey of a game character. Elsewhere, “Reel-ationship” is an R&B number sweetly capturing the budding feelings sparked by exchanging cute cat videos and the emotions of growing closer.

The energetic hip-hop track “Videohood” delivers imaginative lyrics about freely roaming through a game world, wittily expressing NCT WISH’s confidence and individuality. Meanwhile, “WICHU,” a 2000s R&B infused track, sampling Chris Brown’s “With You,” is a song dedicated to fans. The track is also co-written by and features backing vocals by JLS’s Aston Merrygold.

NCT WISH is made up of SION, RIKU, YUSHI, JAEHEE, RYO and SAKUYA. Since debuting in February 2024, the group has quickly built up a strong following in both Japan and Korea; landing three consecutive Top 10 charting releases on the Japanese Album Chart and two chart-topping singles in Korea.

NCT WISH performed in the UK for the first time in June as part of SMTOWN Live in London, earning particular note from DORK Magazine’s review, praising their “slick” performance. The group was formed on a bespoke talent competition show, NCT: The Lastart, in 2023 which was overseen by “Queen of K-pop” BoA, who went on to become the group’s producer.
