Following a run of electrifying live performances and growing recognition as one of K-pop's most compelling stage-forward acts, 82MAJOR are returning with their fifth mini-album FEELM, set for release on April 28 across all major streaming platforms
The group composed of members Nam Seong Mo, Park Seok Joon, Yoon Ye Chan, Hwang Seong Bin, Cho Seong Il and Kim Do Gyun, has been steadily building anticipation through a series of teasers, including the 'What's the fuss' teaser video and a schedule presented in the form of a negative film strip, perfectly in keeping with the album's cinematic concept.
The first set of individual and group concept photos drew immediate and enthusiastic responses from fans. In the group shot, 82MAJOR projected an imposing, commanding presence in oversized black suits, their gazes, directed straight into the camera or angled upward, leaving a strong impression through a variety of striking compositions. The individual photos, evoking the atmosphere of a noir film, were equally arresting: portrait shots highlighted rough, seductive charm through lip tattoos, broken glasses, wet-look hairstyles and reddish eye makeup, while full-body shots staged on beds and sofas created a sensuous, cinematically lit atmosphere
FEELM takes its name from a combination of "Feel" and "Film," reflecting 82MAJOR's intent to weave the emotional moments they experience on and off stage into a single cohesive visual and sonic narrative. Through this release, the group aims to present a sharper team identity and a more fully realised artistic story.
The five-track mini-album spans a wide emotional and sonic range:
1. “W.T.F” opens the album with a bold declaration of 82MAJOR's self-assurance. Beginning with jazz before pivoting into an intense beat, the track highlights the group's unpredictable musicality. Listing tension-laden words, "pressure," "friction," "jealous," the song ultimately answers with defiant resolve: "So what are you gonna do about it?" A confident statement of moving forward on their own terms, regardless of outside noise. Member Yoon Ye Chan participated in the composition.
2. Title Track: “Sign” conveys 82MAJOR's more mature, restrained side. Built on a controlled beat layered with a dreamy melody, the song centres on the unspoken "sign" that passes between two people growing closer, capturing the teetering, electric emotion of connection forming. The addictive hook, punctuated by the playful onomatopoeia "Tiki-taki-tak" makes for one of the group's most immediately memorable moments and firmly stamps a new image for 82MAJOR.
3. “CAGE” offers a sharp contrast: a Baile Funk dance track whose up tempo energy is set against lyrical, aching melodies. "I can't breathe without you" the narrator is trapped, longing to escape but fundamentally unable to. The track explores love as an inescapable force that awakens suppressed instincts even as it keeps its subject out of reach.
4. “CIRCLES” opens with driving drum beats before heavy bass takes hold, revealing yet another dimension of the group. Over a restrained soundscape, the lyrics wrestle with the difficulty of releasing someone you know you should let go, an honest, building portrait of longing, regret and confusion that grows more gripping with each passing bar.
5. “YESSIR!” closes the album as its ending credit, and fittingly so. First previewed during 82MAJOR's latest set of concerts, the house-based dance track offers a modern reinterpretation of retro samples drawn from Korean dance music of the '90s and 2000s. It's a song about release: shedding past relationships and emotions, embracing the present freely and returning to oneself. The message is unmistakably 82MAJOR's — move forward true to yourself, no matter what.
FEELM arrives as 82MAJOR continue to distinguish themselves as a performance-driven act with a distinctive aesthetic point of view. Since debuting on October 11, 2023, with their debut single album On, the group, whose name combines South Korea's international calling code (+82) with the word "major," reflecting their ambition to become a representative act for their country, have built a dedicated fanbase through their concert-first approach, including the fifth concert 'BE BUM : BE THE TIGER' at which “YESSIR!” was first performed live
With FEELM, 82MAJOR step further into their identity: cinematic, genre-spanning, emotionally complex, and entirely their own.
