Global hip-hop/R&B group XG has announced an evolution in the meaning behind their name, shifting from “Xtraordinary Girls” to “Xtraordinary Genes.” The announcement marks a symbolic milestone for the group as all seven members have entered their 20s, signalling a new phase of artistic and personal growth, and underscoring XG’s longstanding commitment to individuality and self-expression.
Since their debut, XG has embodied the spirit of “Xtraordinary Girls,” building a global following through fearless creativity, high-impact performances, and a rule-breaking, genre-defying approach that has challenged conventions across music, fashion, and culture. The group’s updated name meaning reflects a deeper focus on what defines them at their core.
“Xtraordinary Genes” represents the innate creativity, individuality, and forward-thinking energy embedded within each member of XG. More than a rebrand, the shift serves as a declaration of evolution, from their starting point to the source that drives their artistry as the group continues shaping culture without boundaries.
This moment arrives as XG prepares to enter a major new chapter. The group will release their debut full-length album, THE CORE – 核, on January 23, 2026, followed by their second world tour, XG WORLD TOUR: THE CORE, launching in February. With global momentum continuing to build, the name evolution underscores XG’s commitment to growth, reinvention, and long-term impact. THE CORE – 核 is available for pre-order HERE.
