TWICE to Open for Coldplay in Korea, and Here’s Why That’s a Huge Deal

Seoul is set for a major musical moment this April as Coldplay brings its record-breaking Music of the Spheres world tour to South Korea for a six-night stadium run. The British pop-rock superstars will perform at Goyang Stadium on April 16, 18, 19, 22, 24, and 25, 2025 — and for these dates, they will be joined by a major name in K-pop. TWICE, one of South Korea’s most internationally recognised girl groups, has been announced as the opening act for all six Korea shows.

Why TWICE x Coldplay Makes Perfect Sense

While the pairing may seem unconventional at first glance, the move underscores a larger trend in global music: genre and geography are no longer barriers to connection. Coldplay, long known for their soaring anthems and grand-scale live productions, has consistently embraced global musical influences. Their 2021 collaboration with BTS, “My Universe,” marked a clear nod to K-pop’s global rise. Although there is no joint performance planned (as far as we know) with TWICE, the group’s presence on the line-up continues that spirit of international inclusion.

Who Is TWICE, Really?

If you are not already familiar (first of all, where have you been?), TWICE debuted in 2015 under JYP Entertainment and quickly rocketed to the top of the K-pop scene. Made up of nine members: Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu.

TWICE is more than catchy hooks and sparkly visuals. They are cultural ambassadors. They have sold out stadiums across the globe, performed at SoFi Stadium and the Tokyo Dome, and became the first K-pop girl group to headline a North American stadium tour. Simply put, they are global icons.

The Bigger Picture

Their appearance as Coldplay’s special guest is significant — not just for fans, but for the broader industry. It signals a continued shift toward more inclusive, borderless concert experiences. K-pop, once considered a niche genre outside of Asia, now plays a prominent role in mainstream global entertainment.

So, whether you are a longtime ONCE, a Coldplay fan, or just someone who lives for a good genre-bending surprise, Goyang Stadium in April 2025 is the place to be.
