Following the breakout success of their debut EP UNCUT GEM, K-pop’s fast-rising girl group KiiiKiii (JIYU, LEESOL, SUI, HAUM and KYA) has released their new digital single, “DANCING ALONE.” The track is a nostalgic yet fresh summer anthem exploring the vivid hues of friendship, emotional honesty and the power of being unapologetically present.
KiiiKiii made a strong impression earlier this year with UNCUT GEM, their six-track debut EP that has surpassed 30 million Spotify streams and earned widespread critical acclaim. Led by the pre-release single “I DO ME” (13 million music video views), the project introduced the group’s signature blend of unfiltered energy, striking Y2K-inspired visuals and immersive digital storytelling.
Their new digital single “DANCING ALONE” is built on textured rhythms of city pop and retro synths and redefines what it means to be “alone.” Though the track features an upbeat tempo and sparkling melodies, it doesn’t feel light or superficial. “DANCING ALONE” isn’t about loneliness, it’s a story of connection through eye contact, fleeting freedom and emotional honesty. The bright yet direct melody, tight-knit production, and KiiiKiii’s expressive vocals come together to tell a story that feels like a secret shared between close friends.
Instead of polished choreography, the accompanying music video favours genuine emotion—exchanging glances, spontaneous laughter, and running scenes over CGI. It evokes real moments, real friendships and the kind of memories that linger long after summer ends.
The digital single also features a b-side, “Strawberry Cheesegame,” an early 2000s-inspired dance pop track that kicks off with a signature synth sound and rhythm, reimagined through a unique Gen Z expression. Beneath its cute and refreshing surface lies a complex friendship tangled with jealousy and curiosity. It hints at subtle competition, directed at someone who could be a friend, a rival, or something more emotionally charged. Cute but never shallow, kitschy but direct, this is a track that only KiiiKiii could truly pull off. It captures the beauty of imperfect emotions in their most honest form.
The rollout for “DANCING ALONE” once again showcases KiiiKiii’s inventive storytelling approach. Teasers included lo-fi clips of the members riding bikes, flipping through DVDs, and sharing candid moments in school uniforms, evoking a nostalgic, summer-on-film aesthetic. On X, dreamy concept photos captured the girls in everyday settings like riversides and sports fields, reinforcing the group’s effortlessly relatable vibe.
Fans also explored the KiiiKiii Garage Sale, an interactive retro desktop-style website filled with clickable folders, exclusive content, and a custom poster builder—building on the unconventional, fan-driven engagement that made their debut campaign go viral.
With this release, KiiiKiii continues to expand their creative universe, delivering a cohesive visual identity and emotional resonance that set them apart in today’s K-pop landscape.
