CxM (SEVENTEEN) Drop 1st Mini Album 'HYPE VIBES'

CxM (SEVENTEEN), comprising members S.COUPS and MINGYU, released their 1st Mini Album HYPE VIBES today.

HYPE VIBES reveals S.COUPS and MINGYU fully immersed in the present, moving to their own rhythm. The album metaphorically extends a 'high-five' to listeners. Just like a high-five that ignites connection and excitement, this release transmits CxM’s free-spirited vibes and dynamic vitality. It expresses their desire to connect with people from all walks of life.

The lead single “5, 4, 3 (Pretty woman) (feat. Lay Bankz),” which interpolates Roy Orbison’s timeless hit “Oh, Pretty Woman,” immediately captivates with its familiar yet fresh romantic melody. CxM channels the raw, magnetic feelings of irresistible attraction through disco-infused sound, portraying the thrill of a romantic encounter with candid, straightforward delivery. Featuring rising Gen Z artist Lay Bankz, the track further broadens its reach to global audiences.

The accompanying music video playfully explores the emotions of utter attraction, while expanding the definition of “pretty.” S.COUPS and MINGYU encounter women radiating charm at every turn, drawing inspiration and insight from each interaction. Lay Bankz also makes a surprise appearance, navigating the bustling city with self-assured grace and discovering new dimensions of beauty. Unfolding from the perspectives of the women, the video cleverly portrays the duo experiencing layers of beauty and love in everyday chance encounters, against the sunlit, vivid backdrop of Los Angeles, enhancing its vibrant mood.

Alongside the lead single, HYPE VIBES showcases CxM’s musical versatility through five additional tracks spanning diverse genres: hip-hop tracks “Fiesta” and “Worth it,” pop track “For you,” rock-based track “Young again,” and EDM track “Earth.” S.COUPS and MINGYU are credited with songwriting and composing on all six tracks, creating an album that fully embodies their tastes, moods, and creative vision.

Even ahead of its release, CxM has been garnering immense global attention. The duo was recently announced as cover stars of Hypebeast Magazine Issue 36: The Platinum Issue, celebrating the publication’s 20th anniversary. Meanwhile, their pre-release challenge video for the lead single has already surpassed 180 million views, demonstrating their powerful influence and widespread anticipation.

Doubling the undeniable force of SEVENTEEN’s two iconic members and the high-energy powerhouses of its hip-hop unit, CxM are poised to spark a fresh current, unveiling their truest selves through a creation that fuses honesty, hype, and a decade of shared growth.
