Following the release of their fifth studio album ARIRANG, BTS have further expanded their global comeback through large-scale, multi-city activations across Seoul, London, and New York.
Launched on March 20, ‘BTS THE CITY ARIRANG - SEOUL’ has transformed the capital into a citywide, multi-layered cultural experience running through April 12. Spanning major landmarks and public spaces, the project extends the world of ARIRANG into the city, positioning Seoul as an immersive canvas of BTS’ music and storytelling. At the heart of the activation, Sungnyemun has been illuminated through a large-scale media façade, creating a striking visual moment where cultural heritage meets contemporary media art, alongside additional landmark activations across the city including N Seoul Tower.
The scale of the activation is further elevated through large-scale drone light shows across cities. In Seoul, a drone light show held at Ttukseom Hangang Park Music Fountain illuminated the night skyline in celebration of the group’s comeback. This momentum extended globally to New York, where a landmark drone light show took place on March 18 (ET) at Brooklyn Bridge Park. The approximately 10-minute showcase featured drones forming visuals inspired by ARIRANG, including the album logo, the phrase “WHAT IS YOUR LOVE SONG?,” and symbolic motifs such as the number seven and the Big Dipper constellation, set against one of New York City’s most iconic skylines.
Extending the visual narrative, large-scale media façades will illuminate the London Eye and surrounding riverside landmarks, bringing ARIRANG into London’s most recognisable landmarks and reinforcing the project’s global scale.
Supporting activations across Seoul further deepen the experience. Additional light-based installations and interactive programs across the city, including the Banpodaegyo Bridge Moonlight Rainbow Fountain, and interactive programs such as “ARMY MADANG” at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) and the “Love Song Lounge” at Yeouido Hangang Park Event Square, invite audiences to engage with BTS’ music in both communal and intimate settings. Additional installations across Cheonggyecheon and Yongsan further embed the project into everyday urban environments.
Together, these activations underscore the continued evolution of ‘BTS THE CITY ARIRANG,’ transforming urban environments into immersive cultural platforms. By integrating music, media, and public space, the project expands ARIRANG beyond an album into a shared global experience, creating a multi-dimensional moment that connects audiences across cities and continents.
