TXT Reflect Through Their EP 7TH YEAR: A Moment Of Stillness in the Thorns by Genevieve Torkornoo for TINYgMUSIC

TXT released their eighth mini album 7TH YEAR: A Moment of Stillness in the Thorns (가시덤불에 잠시 바람이 멈췄을 때) on April 13, 2026. The album celebrates seven years together, serving as a gift to fans. The concept of “thorns” represents the uncertainty and emotional obstacles the group has faced since debut. Meanwhile, the title A Moment of Stillness in the Thorns reflects a pause for reflection on where TXT stands as artists, while also stepping into a new chapter.

Musically, the album features a mix of electro-pop, dance, synth funk, and alternative pop elements, staying true to the sound many fans love. The instrumentals play a central focus in each track, often taking prominence, while the lyrics tend to be relatively concise.

Lyrically, the opening track “Bed of Thorns” focuses on choosing hardship and taking ownership of personal identity. It emphasizes that relief comes through experiencing, learning from, and accepting hardship. Lines such as “My bed of thorns, I willingly lay myself down” highlight growth through struggle and the choices embedded in everyday life. Visually, the music video mirrors these emotions as the members of TXT reminisce on distant memories and past interactions that feel far away.

The title track “Stick With You,” (하루에 하루만 더) explores a relationship that feels as though it is slipping away. Through emotional distance and silence, it captures the attempt to stall an inevitable breakup when there is little left to salvage.

“Take Me to Nirvana (feat. Vinida Weng),” focuses on escapism and the release of mental burdens. Nirvana, in Buddhism, is understood as a state of liberation from greed, hatred, and delusion, ultimately leading to peace and freedom. In this context, nirvana is portrayed as a state of consciousness beyond the physical world, reflected throughout the song. Lines such as “Reaching a state of ecstasy” and “Free from all the karma” illustrate stages of release and transcendence.

“So What” centers on living life on one’s own terms rather than seeking external approval. Instead of chasing validation, the members persist toward the future they want to create. The song reflects their career struggles and growing independence and identity. The line “Seven years / Dreams that grew without answers” highlights long training periods, trial and error, and the uncertainty inherent in becoming an artist.

“21st Century Romance” addresses modern relationship dynamics, particularly how technology has contributed to digital loneliness and artificial connection. “I surrender to the world of zeros and ones” reflects surrendering to a world reduced to data rather than genuine connection. Meanwhile, “And I become numb, swiping has become a habit” speaks to online dating culture, endless scrolling, and emotional desensitization, alongside a desire for something more meaningful in a society focused on appearances.

The final track, “Dream of Mine” (다음의 다음), explores curiosity toward the unknown and moving forward despite uncertainty. Lines such as “On a map with no road” illustrate a lack of clear direction in life. This reflects trusting one’s instincts in moments of uncertainty and embracing courage when the path ahead is unclear.

Ultimately, TXT’s eighth mini album 7TH YEAR: A Moment of Stillness in the Thorns reads as a journal and timeline of the group’s journey from trainee era to the present. It reflects understanding of the past while maintaining courage toward the uncertainty of the future.
