Jay Park’s First Boy Group LNGSHOT Makes Surprise Performance Ahead of 2026 Debut

Global artist and entrepreneur Jay Park unveiled his first boy group, LNGSHOT (Longshot), with a surprise appearance at Hanyang University Festival.

Known for his explosive stage presence, Jay Park once again proved why he is one of the most in-demand performers for university festivals. The highlight of the night when LNGSHOT joined him on stage, delivering their first-ever performance with an unreleased track. With no prior public history of the group before the surprise appearance, the performance offered a fresh shock to the crowd and marked the beginning of LNGSHOT’s journey.

Immediately after the show, Jay Park took to Instagram to officially announce the group’s official account (@lngshot4sho) introducing the four members: OHYUL, RYUL, WOOJIN, and LOUIS. His caption, playful yet assured, reflected the group’s spirit:

“Haha, I don’t know if they’ll sell the most, but I’m confident they’ll do K-pop in the coolest, most fun way.”

The post also included bold hashtags such as #itsalngshotbutwelltakeit (“it might be a long shot, but we’ll take it”) and #middlefingertothenorm, signalling their unapologetic edge and determination to flip the script on K-pop.

Breaking the Blueprint

LNGSHOT is the first boy group produced by Jay Park under his label MORE VISION, founded in 2022. The group has already shown an unpredictable and unconventional path with their surprise university festival reveal — a rare move before debut.

Jay Park explained the spirit behind LNGSHOT:

“People kept trying to put their standards and limits on me. Growing up in the States, it was ‘What’s an Asian doing in hip-hop?’ When I came to Korea, it became ‘What’s an idol doing in hip-hop?’ Then later, ‘You’re a celebrity, how can you be tatted up and still show up on TV?’ or ‘What if your business fails?’

I broke through those stereotypes and carved out my own lane — the Jay Park way. Now, 17 years later, I’ve been grinding, proving myself, and thankfully earning respect. That made me realize this mindset, this attitude, needs to be passed down.

That’s why I started building idols. Because there has to be a new generation to carry the culture and keep the spirit alive. The name LNGSHOT means the odds might be slim, but you take the risk anyway. That’s the spirit behind it.”

Jay Park has been teasing the project over the past year through interviews and festival appearances where he dropped hints about the group’s name, members, and even shared obscured photos. The Hanyang University Festival marked the first time he officially presented LNGSHOT to the public, confirming they are on track for their official debut in January 2026.
