Los Angeles, CA (April 14th, 2023) – Quadrilingual Diamond certified artist-producer, Ir Sais, releases new sultry single “Urau” in his native language Papiamentu. Written and produced by the artist himself, the song stays true to Ir Sais’s signature sounds as the self-taught multi-instrumentalist blends native Bonairian sounds with Zouk, Kizomba, Kompa and Ka-Dance. “Urau” talks about a relationship that comes with its set of challenges but none that can’t be resolved.

It tells the story of a confident woman who desires to be close to the person she likes, yet avoids discussing their relationship. Despite her reservations, she can’t resist being with him. The man, on the other hand, urges her to have faith in him and remain committed, regardless of any challenges that arise” explains Ir Sais.

The visuals for “Urau” are reminiscent of early 00s R&B videos and were filmed in Amsterdam and directed by Tobias Van Daal and Jessie Koelstra. The visual effects represent the obstacles couples in a similar situation would have to overcome in order to be together. “The use of filters effectively portrays these barriers that come between them,” affirms Ir Sais. Last month, Ir Sais made his SXSW debut with a performance at the first all Afro-Latino Showcase in the festival’s history - Sonidos Afro - which was a major success. Coming up, you can catch Ir Sais at the Papi Chulo Festival in The Hague, Netherlands on May 20th and this summer at the Caribbean Sun Splash Festival in Willemstad, Curacao on June 3rd.

More on Ir Sais:

Ir Sais is the artistic moniker of Irgwin Placido Sluis, born in the Caribbean island of Bonaire in the Netherlands Antilles. At 11 years old, using tin cans as drums, he began his journey as a self taught artist and has now mastered several instruments along with the technicalities of being a producer. After getting his first taste of success with local Bonaire bands, he moved to the Netherlands in 2008, launching a solo career with original material that fuses pop with the Caribbean zouk rhythm. In 2018, his song “Dream Girl” caught the attention of the French remixer Djly Prod, who helped the song go viral and led to the #DreamGirlChallenge that drew massive attention to both the song and TikTok (over 4B+ streams). “Dream Girl Remix,” featuring the Puerto Rican sensation Rauw Alejandro, dropped in December 2019, and has surpassed 300 million views on YouTube. Billboard declared it the “Best Latin Song of 2020.” In 2020, Jamaican icon Sean Paul and Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido also hopped on the “Dream Girl (Global Remix).” He continues to command the attention of international artists. In addition to his Deeper X (Part 1) EP’s collaborations with Manuel Turizo, Farina, and Konshens, he joined Walshy Fire of Major Lazer for "Validé" in 2022.
