DannyLux continues to challenge audience’s perception of Mexican music with his latest single, “Zafiro,” off his forthcoming album out this summer. The sierreño crooner teamed up with Pablo Hurtado, from 3X Grammy winning Mexican band – Camila – and producer Hector Crisantes (Kurt, El Fantasma) to create a genre—defying sierreño that incorporates an orchestra and rock guitar solo by Hurtado.
When describing the emotional song DannyLux states, “This song has so many emotions put into it, it talks about being in love with a person that truly did hurt you, and every time you look into their eyes it reminds you of that.”DannyLux embraces heartbreak and loss on “Zafiro” through poignant lyrics like “esos ojo zafiros brillan y mienten,” staying true to that sad boy essence which gained him a massive and loyal fanbase while setting him apart from his musical peers.
“Zafiro” arrives with a dynamic music video directed by longtime collaborator, Tevan, which showcases an emotional performance by DannyLux alongside a live orchestra. The visuals were shot at multiple locations across California featuring iconic spots like the Pacific Ocean and Pismo Beach sand dunes. The dramatic storytelling keeps the audience engaged through what feels like a short film.
2023 has already been the most pivotal year in DannyLux’s career. He’s reached several milestones including a performance at Coachella, a hometown glory story told through a billboard which went viral and the bestowal of the keys to his hometown, Desert Hot Springs, by the city’s mayor. Adding to his long list of accomplishments this year, DannyLux won a BMI Award for Most Performed Regional Mexican Song for “Jugaste y Sufri,” received a nomination for a Premio Lo Nuestro and a Latin AMA award, and was included, for the 2nd consecutive year, in Billboard’s 21 under 21 list. The singer-songwriter and musician is set to close out the year with a debut full-length album, his first headliner tour in Mexico, participation in major festivals and major collaborations.
